Branle Gay by Jean-Baptist Besard for Classical Guitar [Lesson + PDF]
You can download the Branle Gay Sheet Music for free at this link: nycreative.lpages.co/cgc-branle-gay-by-besard-download/
Performance and Lesson by Nicoletta Todesco
“Branle Gay” by Jean-Baptiste Besard is one of the pieces contained in the book Exploring the
Renaissance. The book offers an exploration of Renaissance music specifically for the classical guitarist.
It contains music that comes from sixteenth- and seventeenth-century sources that have been translated
into modern notation that will be familiar to the modern classical guitarist.
Our goal is to provide a rich
and fun collection of music that broadly represents music for the Renaissance lute and vihuela.
The pieces are arranged to create a learning pathway, one that introduces you to the music of the Renaissance
in a progressive manner. Pieces range from beginner to advanced and include notation with fingering.
There is no TAB included in this edition.
Before every piece, you will find a one-page description that sets the stage for the music and walks you
through some key things to look out for when learning the piece. Each section of music (Dances, Songs,
Instrumentals) is progressive and so the pieces get more difficult as you go through the music.
While this book gives you everything you need to play this wonderful music, you can go much more in-depth with each piece at CGC Academy.
You can purchase the book here: www.classicalguitarcorner.com/exploring-the-renaissance/
At the Academy, we have provided progressive lessons on the
music, with performance videos, full video lessons, PDFs of the scores, along with question-and-answer
sections for each lesson:

Rolling or arpeggiating chords is an idiomatic element of classical guitar. Rolled chords can sound very beautiful when done well. However, we need to approach them in a structured way so they don't lose their charm. In this lesson we'll look at five aspects of how to roll chords on the guitar. This structured approach will ensure a rhythmic quality to your chord rolls and show you how to treat...

Although not directly inspired by its namesake, it felt right to gift this piece to her. It is a playful memory for someone who has not yet lived. Some dynamics ...

Nice work. Excellent detailed explantions. I like how you showed the finger placements in each section. Do you have Maria Linnemann's Canzone D' Amore on your list to teach in the near future. I'm trying to learn that piece and your instruction would benefit tremendously. Thanks.
